Easter at St. John's
Easter Sunday at St. John’s was a joyful celebration of resurrection and new life. The church was filled with beautiful music, blooming flowers, and the warmth of a gathered community rejoicing together. From the first notes of the hymns to the final alleluias, it was a morning marked by hope, renewal, and shared faith. These photos capture just a glimpse of the beauty and spirit of the day—we are grateful to all who joined us to celebrate the risen Christ. For more infomation visit:

Come and See, Then Go and Tell - an Easter MessageSunday, April 5, 2026 Now, I know that Easter is not really the day for gloating, but I hope you'll forgive me for feeling pretty darn pleased with myself. I've been writing a lot of stuff recently, sermons, articles, classes, and the like, and it's been really time consuming because I'm a terrible typist. But now I've discovered the dictate function in Microsoft Word. It's amazing. I know you've all been using it for like 20 years, but please share my excitement that I've just discovered it. Now, if I want to quote a piece of text, all I have to do is, is speak it. And my word processor just types it out. I've saved hours of my life. This lent, it's fantastic, but the tech isn't as advanced as it could be, and the dictation thingy makes mistakes.

Vacation Bible SchoolMonday, June 1, 2026 VBS Is on the Horizon... Step back in time this summer at St. John’s for an unforgettable Vacation Bible School experience! From June 1–4, children are invited to journey to ancient Rome for “ROME: Paul and the Underground Church,” a vibrant marketplace-style VBS. Each day, participants will explore bustling shops, meet early Christians, and discover what life was like for Paul and the underground church as they shared the Good News in a challenging time. Through hands-on activities, storytelling, music, and crafts, children will experience Scripture in a whole new way—immersing themselves in the sights, sounds, and spirit of the early Church. Registration link is available on the St. John's website or by emailing sarah@stjohnsmontgomery.org. Education for Ministry Opportunity at St. John's
Education for Ministry (EfM) is a four-year small-group formation program from the University of the South in Sewanee, designed for lay people seeking a deeper understanding of Scripture, church history, and theology, as well as those discerning a call to ordained ministry. The program includes two years of Bible study (Old and New Testaments), followed by church history and theology, with a strong emphasis on theological reflection and lived faith. An EfM seminar group is forming at St. John’s for Fall 2026 with 8–10 participants. To learn more, visit efm.sewanee.edu or speak with the rector. |
