Sequels, Prequels, and Entire Dynasties - a message from the rector- Monday, April 20, 2026 Zombies, vampires, psychopathic murderers, greedy manipulators, and power-hungry cheats. In other words, just another evening of TV consumption in my house. St Paul (Phil 4:8) advises: “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - think about such things”. Easy for him to say. He didn’t have the new season of Landman at the push of a button. Is it only me, or do you also think that there’s not much original thinking in the TV and movie industry? It all seems to be sequels of things that worked in the past – or prequals. Sometimes (I’m looking at you, Marvel Studios) an ever-expanding universe of entertainment is created using the same formula and characters. Don't Wait Til It's Too LateMonday, April 20, 2026 On August the ninth, 2010, Ed Stafford went for a swim. Ed strolled along the beautiful beach of the seaside town of Marda, Brazil. He stepped past the upscale holiday makers to the water's edge and plunged into the crystal blue Atlantic Ocean. A few moments later, refreshed by his dip, he waded back to dry land. STJ Youth and Kids Kick Back
What a wonderful weekend we shared at Kick Back Ranch! Our youth retreat was a tremendous success, filled with laughter, fellowship, and meaningful moments together. Whether it was fishing, swimming, exploring, or simply relaxing with friends, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Evenings brought time to unwind, deepen friendships, and reflect together, making the experience all the more special. By Sunday morning, it was clear just how much this time away had meant. Tired but happy faces returned to St. John’s, full of stories and memories that will last well beyond the weekend. A heartfelt thank you to J.R. Marshall and Sarah Collier for their leadership and care in organizing such a meaningful retreat, and to all the parents and volunteers who made it possible. Most of all, thank you to our youth for bringing such great energy and spirit—you made the weekend truly unforgettable. We are already looking forward to the next gathering!
