A service of prayer for our city. All are welcome.

“Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” Jeremiah 29:7.

So, we will. God has placed us at the heart of our city and given us a unique call – to be a beacon of light.

We are all shocked by the violence that occurred 500 yards from St John’s in early October, and we are grieving the loss of life. Our city is no stranger to violence, of course, and we need to keep the current painful events in historic perspective.

And yet, the words of God through the prophet Jeremiah challenge us to pray for the city of Montgomery – our mission field and our home. Please come to “Lord, Have Mercy," a special service of prayer at 4pm on Sunday November 2. We’ll pray for Montgomery. That’s all – both in silence and with written liturgy.

There will be no sermon, no time of sharing, and no political messages disguised as liturgy. Go has placed us here with a purpose, and it includes lifting up our city to God’s mercy and grace.
